How would you describe your design style?

We are known for our classic contemporary designs with twists of personality and edge infused into each space we work on.   I make sure all of our projects are unique to our client and the design aesthetic they are looking for while tying everything back to the interior architecture.  I focus on maintaining a high end, luxurious look while being mindful of using durable fibers and neutral foundations to ensure a functional, timeless design that our clients will be happy with for a long time.

During which part of the design process do you select rugs and carpet for a space?

We love starting from the ground up with our designs.  Once we have nailed down the architectural finishes going into a space, we begin sourcing area rugs or carpets that will ground the room and set the tone of the overall design.  Rugs are typically the largest design element in a space, so it is a great way to make a statement or set a neutral backdrop depending on what you are trying to achieve.

Any recommendations for selecting the material, construction, size, and/or shape for rugs and carpet for a space?

We always consider where the rug or carpet will be used and how much traffic that area will get.  Any high traffic area used daily should have a rug or carpet constructed of low, durable fibers to handle the wear and tear of everyday life.  The size of a carpet can makeor break a space.  We love larger area rugs to maximize furniture placement and typically leave an even floor margin around the room to ensure symmetry and purposeful design.

Are there one or two particular rug or carpet styles you keep going back to?

Our clients range from young families to empty nesters, but no matter what, they are always looking for functionality and durability.  We always look for rugs and carpets constructed of durable fibers that will last, so we love Stark’s Nyla collection offering a luxe feel while standing the test of time.  It serves as a great neutral backdrop, is soft on the feet, and has a lovely sheen to it that resembles silk.  We love this collection especially for bedrooms!

Any other tips for selecting a rug or carpet?

Always double check sizes for area rugs and ensure all front legs of furniture in the space are placed on the rug.  Rugs have the ability to make a room feel larger but if the size is not selected properly it could make a room look too small and in-proportional to the other elements found in the space.
